What’s the Difference between UX and UI?

User Interface Design (UI) and User Experience Design (UX) are often confused, but they are fundamentally different. UI design makes a digital product look good, i.e., it stands for the visual appearance of a page. UX design is concerned with the design of the overall experience, taking into account all aspects of interaction with the website.

The German and English information portals (OpenText CMS) and filterable provider database (Laravel) with more than 200 service providers are intended to promote cooperation between German and international partners in vocational education and training.

Turn 3 into 1

Formerly three separate websites were merged into one new website for the cybersecurity provider based in Aachen (information architecture, new style guide, UX/UI, module concept) and implemented in CMS Drupal. The content includes a product catalog and product finder with in-depth information, knowledge base, blog, job offers, partner locator, downloads and a convenient faceted search (Solr). The content is available in EN, DE, JA and ES. Animations illustrate the interaction of the products.

Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB) is Germany’s largest water supply and wastewater disposal company. The information portal is aimed at a wide range of target groups and was implemented in CMS OpenText. We also manage the training portal, the teachers’ platform “Blaues Klassenzimmer” and the children’s website klassewasser.de, which is all about water. As a municipal company, BWB offers its content barrier-free.

The Institut français Deutschland is a French cultural institution with 13 locations throughout Germany. It is the official language school of France and offers a wide range of cultural events and support programs in addition to various language courses. We have expanded the diverse portal (CMS Drupal) to include a booking platform for French courses.

CMS with Shopify

Zeitzeichen is a monthly magazine for Protestant perspectives on current issues with up-to-date analysis and commentary for people interested in politics, society and religion. The online magazine is provided in the CMS Drupal. A headless Shopify integration supports distribution: current issues and thousands of premium articles in the archive can also be purchased and read outside of a subscription.

Accessible Portal

leando.de

The Leando web portal for training and examination staff, implemented in CMS Drupal, was commissioned by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It pursues three goals in order to make vocational training fit for the future: Informing, Networking, Qualifying. As part of an EU-wide tender, Y1 was awarded the contract to develop the operating concept and interface design (UX/UI), taking into account legal requirements for accessibility.
