DANIELS is a traditional fashion company with over 200 premium brands and several physical stores. Together with Y1, product data management has been completely restructured and digitized with Centric PXM. This has reduced the time-to-market for new products from up to eight days to around 1.5 days and established the foundation for scalable multichannel growth.
Before the project began, DANIELS faced typical challenges of a growing multichannel retailer:
• Complex product data structures: Over 4,000 product variants per season and more than 70 attributes per item made structured management of product data difficult.
• Manual processes: Product data was mostly maintained and distributed through Excel-based workflows.
• Long time-to-market: The manual preparation of product information meant that new products occasionally took up to eight days to become available online.
• Lack of data standards: Unstructured data processes made consistent product information across different channels difficult.
• Limited scalability: As the number of items, brands, and variants increased, the existing process became increasingly inefficient and error-prone.
The reason for the project was therefore the strategic decision to professionalize product data management and create a scalable foundation for future e-commerce growth.
Structured product data for multichannel retail - faster time-to-market, more efficient processes, scalable product maintenance
Y1 designed and implemented a modern product data architecture based on Centric PXM.
Introduction of a central Product Experience Management system
• Implementation of Centric PXM as the central platform for product data
• Structured management of items, variants, and attributes
Standardization of product data processes
• Establishment of clearly defined data models and attributes
• Unification of the product data structure across all channels
Automation of product data maintenance
• Reduction of manual Excel workflows
• More efficient data maintenance through centralized processes
Optimization of product launch processes
• Faster creation, maintenance, and publication of product information
• Improved collaboration between purchasing, marketing, and e-commerce
Foundation for data-driven commerce features
• Basis for curated thematic worlds
• Preparation for automated cross-selling
• Scalable structure for future commerce services

The implementation took place in several clearly defined project phases.
Analysis & Strategy
• Analysis of existing product data processes
• Identification of bottlenecks in the data workflow
• Definition of a scalable target architecture
Data Model & System Concept
• Structuring of product attributes and variant logic
• Definition of data standards for all product information
Implementation of Centric PXM
• Technical introduction of the PXM platform
• Migration and structuring of existing product data
Process Optimization & Enablement
• Establishing efficient workflows for product creation and data maintenance
• Training of teams for daily handling of the new system
As a result, DANIELS today has a modern product data structure that efficiently supports both the stationary business and the growing online shop, enabling future growth.
