Kiddinx is one of the leading brands in children's and family entertainment. With well-known characters like Bibi Blocksberg, Benjamin Blümchen, and Bibi & Tina, the Berlin brand has been creating media worlds that accompany generations for decades. The company offers, in addition to classic audio plays and series, a digital ecosystem consisting of an online shop and streaming app – with a clear commitment to quality, safety, and accessibility.

The existing Kiddinx online shop was based on an older Magento architecture that was no longer up-to-date in terms of usability, performance, and brand impact. Content and products could only be combined to a limited extent, and the user experience no longer met today's expectations for an emotional, child-friendly commerce experience.

Furthermore, Kiddinx pursued the strategic vision of expanding its brand universe – with a streaming app that directly connects children and parents to the brand through a safe, intuitive, and accessible environment. The goal: a consistent, cross-brand experience – from commerce to content.

An integrated brand platform that connects experiences.

Y1 developed a holistic digital strategy that understands e-commerce and the streaming app as two parts of a shared brand world. The central question was: How can an entertainment brand be made digitally experiential in such a way that it simultaneously builds trust, conveys joy, and promotes the independence of children?

The answer lay in the combination of strong UX design, emotional storytelling, and consistent accessibility. The relaunch of the Magento shop laid the foundation for a modern, high-performance, and brand-compliant shopping experience. Building on this, a complementary content ecosystem was created with the streaming app that intuitively and securely facilitates access to audio plays, series, and playlists – without advertising interruptions, with parent-led management, and a clear, child-friendly operating logic.

The result is a digital brand platform that unites commerce, content, and accessibility into a coherent brand experience – scalable, emotional, and forward-looking.

Y1 designed a unified UX and design system that visually and functionally connects the shop and the app.

  • For the online shop, a modular Magento architecture was created with clear navigation logic, download options, and an integrated content structure.

  • The streaming app was conceived as a standalone, mobile platform – featuring an intuitive UI, large touch areas, clear icons, and navigation that can be used by children without reading skills.

A particular focus was placed on accessibility: Readable typography, strong color contrasts, clear hierarchies, and auditory feedback make usage accessible and inclusive.

The technical and visual unity between the shop and the app strengthens brand identity and allows Kiddinx for long-term scaling of the digital ecosystem – from the product world to the streaming experience.
