L&T
L&T is much more than a classic fashion house. For over 100 years, the company has represented a shopping experience in the heart of Osnabrück that uniquely combines assortment, advice, and presentation.
Together with Y1, L&T has technologically revamped its online business and migrated to Shopify Plus. The goal was to simplify the system landscape, reduce operating costs, and create a digital commerce foundation that better integrates conversion, marketing, and omnichannel processes.
The strategic realignment of the online business made it clear that the existing shop system no longer adequately supports the requirements for future growth. Too much complexity in the system, high operational effort, and rising operating costs hindered further development.
At the same time, it was clear: it was not just about a technical platform change. L&T needed a setup that cleanly integrates commerce, marketing, and omnichannel requirements and significantly improves the digital customer experience.
The challenge lay simultaneously on several levels. On one hand, a new shop system had to be found that aligns with the strategic direction of the company. On the other hand, central requirements such as CRM integration, customer group logic, club prices, and vouchers had to be reliably represented in a new system world.
Future-Proof Fashion Commerce for Omnichannel Retail - Less Complexity, Better Conversion, More Operational Freedom
Y1 did not simply migrate a shop for L&T. The goal was to create a setup that reduces complexity, simplifies central processes, and establishes a solid foundation for growth.
Shopify Plus as the new system foundation: Selection and implementation of a scalable platform for a more efficient commerce setup.
Technical Proof of Concept: Validation of central requirements such as CRM integration, customer groups, club prices, and gift vouchers.
Technical overall concept: Definition of data flows, product logics, metafields, interfaces, apps, and custom developments.
Automated brand concept: Development of a custom app for the systematic creation and linking of brand pages.
Omnichannel voucher solution: Implementation of a dedicated app for the purchase and redemption of gift vouchers online and in-store.
UX/UI optimization: Development of a brand-specific user experience focusing on end customers and conversion.
CI-compliant implementation: Technical realization of the layouts and adaptation of all relevant apps to the appearance of L&T.
Automated redirect logic: Development of a custom app for mapping and creating around 10,000 redirects.

The project began with a structured analysis phase. Together with L&T, the strategic goals, core requirements, and the desired future direction of the online business were defined. On this basis, various shop systems were evaluated and compared with each other.
After the decision for Shopify Plus, Y1 developed a technical proof of concept to validate critical requirements at an early stage. It was examined how central functions and integrations could be implemented in the new system architecture.
Subsequently, a comprehensive technical concept for Shopify Plus was developed. This included data flows, product logics, meta fields, interfaces, app architectures, and necessary custom developments. In parallel, the UX/UI concept and the brand-specific visual design were created.
In the implementation phase, the layouts were technically realized, individual apps developed, and the omnichannel functionalities integrated. A particular focus was placed on the connection of strategic clarity, technical feasibility, and operational scalability.
Within eight months, the project was successfully completed, and the new commerce platform was launched.
